Festival de Cap Roig

Calella de Palafrugell · Catalonia · Spain

The Cap Roig gardens were laid out from 1927 by a Russian colonel and an English aristocrat on a headland above Calella de Palafrugell, and the festival stages its concerts in an auditorium set among the terraces with the Mediterranean below. The programme is broad — international pop, Spanish and Catalan artists, flamenco, some classical — and the capacity is around two thousand.

No attendance figure is recorded here in this pass.

The season runs from July into August as individual evenings.

The Costa Brava in those months is at full capacity and the roads along it are slow. The garden itself is a working botanical collection open by day, which is the better time to see it; concert nights are about the setting at dusk rather than the plants.

PlanningA long July–August season of single nights, in a garden seating about 2,000.
