Cully is a village of 2,000 in the Lavaux, the terraced vineyards above Lake Geneva that UNESCO listed in 2007. For nine days its wine cellars, squares and a lakeside tent are given over to jazz: a ticketed main programme and a substantial free one in the caveaux, where the local winemakers pour.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
The festival's reputation rests on the setting and on a free programme good enough that many visitors never buy a ticket.
The month is March into April; MOLT files it under May. Cully is twenty minutes from Lausanne by train along the lake, which is how the audience arrives, because the village has almost no parking and the vineyard road is single-track.
PlanningLate March into April, not May. The ticketed tent and the free cellar programme run in parallel.
