The Foire aux Vins d'Alsace is two things under one name. It is a trade and public wine fair for the Alsace appellations, running eleven days at the Colmar exhibition park with tasting cellars and producer stands. It is also, in parallel, a concert series: a 10,000-seat arena hosting a major act almost every night, which for many visitors is the whole reason to buy a ticket.
Founded in 1948 to rebuild the region's wine trade after the war, it has grown into one of the largest events in the Grand Est.
No attendance figure is recorded here in this pass.
The point most often got wrong is the timing. Despite being a wine fair, it runs in late July and early August — before the harvest, not after it. Visitors expecting an autumn vendange event arrive in the wrong month. The Alsace harvest festivals proper are in September and October, in the villages along the wine route.
PlanningA seasonal window in high summer, not an autumn harvest event as the name suggests.
