Founded in 1952 out of earlier concerts in the Alhambra, the Granada festival performs in the Palacio de Carlos V's circular courtyard, in the open-air theatre of the Generalife gardens, and in the city's churches and monasteries. Orchestras, early music, flamenco and international dance companies, in spaces that are themselves the reason tickets sell.
