Maeda Toshiie entered Kanazawa Castle in 1583 and founded a domain assessed at a million koku of rice — the richest in Japan after the shogun's own, which is why the city has the crafts, gardens and gold leaf it does. The festival re-enacts his entry with a procession of around 2,500 in armour, led by an actor as Toshiie.
Around it run a lantern floating on the Asano river, noh in the castle park and a tea ceremony in Kenrokuen.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
