Running since 1966, Jazzaldia is the oldest jazz festival in Spain and among the oldest in Europe, and its structure is unusually generous: ticketed concerts in the Kursaal and the Victoria Eugenia theatre, and a large free programme on the Zurriola beach stage, in the Plaza de la Trinidad in the old town, and at the Kursaal terraces.
No attendance figure is recorded here in this pass.
The late-July dates place it in the Basque high season, with Bilbao BBK Live earlier in the month and Aste Nagusia in August — three events that between them keep the Basque coast full from June to September.
San Sebastián is expensive and small. Hondarribia and the French side at Hendaye are the fallbacks, twenty minutes by train.
PlanningA late-July window; the headline concerts are ticketed, the beach and square stages are free.
Season
Computed from the recurrence rule we record for this entry, not copied from a listing. A date marked ~ comes from a calendar conversion and the observance may fall a day or two either side.
The body publishes 37 countries among ticket buyers (16,272 tickets). No shares are published. This is not and cannot be a passport of the audience: 163,211 of the 179,483 came to the free Trinidad and Zurriola stages, and their nationality is recorded nowhere.
