Nagoya Castle holds around a thousand cherry trees inside its moats, and the spring festival opens the grounds into the evening with the trees lit, performances by the castle's costumed "samurai and ninja" troupe, and food stalls.
The Hommaru Palace, rebuilt in the 2010s using traditional joinery and reproducing the original painted screens, is the reason to be there in any season.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
The dates are set to the bloom and move with it. Nagoya is a few days ahead of Tokyo most years, which — along with Kyushu — makes it one of the places to go when the forecast says the capital will be late.
PlanningA late-March window set by the bloom; the castle grounds open later in the evening during it.
