Taobuk gathers writers, publishers and public figures in Taormina for five days around a declared annual theme, with the main events in the Teatro Antico and the Palazzo dei Congressi and a programme that reaches well beyond fiction into politics and science. Nobel laureates appear regularly, and the festival awards its own prize.

Two scheduling notes. It falls in June and overlaps or abuts the Taormina Film Festival, so the town holds two international events in the same weeks and its accommodation reflects that. And a substantial part of the programme is free and outdoors, in the squares, while the theatre events are ticketed.
Taormina is reached from Catania in an hour; the town itself is closed to cars.
