BBK Live is held on Kobetamendi, a hillside above Bilbao with the city and the Nervión visible from the main stage field. The programming is international rock, pop and electronic at the larger end, and the setting — a steep site reached by shuttle, with a campsite on the slope — is what distinguishes it from the urban festivals on the Mediterranean coast.

The three days fall in mid-July. Bilbao itself is a comfortable base with real hotel capacity, and the festival runs buses continuously through the night, which is the only sensible way up and down the hill.
