Played since 1989 on the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club — the first grass course in the Middle East — the Desert Classic is the oldest professional golf tournament in the Gulf and the one with the deepest field, now elevated within the DP World Tour's schedule.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
It sits in the Desert Swing, the run of January and February tournaments across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar that opens the European season while northern courses are unplayable.
The tournament's weather window is the whole logic of its date: January in Dubai is around 24 degrees, and by April the same course is unplayable for a professional field in daylight.
PlanningA January window set by the DP World Tour calendar; part of the Gulf swing with Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
