The Dubai Sevens combines a World Rugby Sevens Series round with an amateur tournament of several hundred teams from across the Gulf and beyond, played over the same weekend at The Sevens stadium on the Al Ain road.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
It is the largest annual gathering of the Gulf's expatriate population and its character is accordingly social: the tournament matters, and so does everything happening on the grass banks around it.
It is anchored to the first weekend of December, which — with National Day on the second and third, the Grand Prix a week either side, and the shopping season opening mid-month — makes the first fortnight of December the densest two weeks in the UAE calendar and the most expensive.
PlanningAnchored to the first weekend of December; the social event is as large as the tournament.
