Garorock grew from a small rock event in 1997 into one of the larger French summer festivals, held on the Plaine de la Filhole beside the Garonne at Marmande. The programming is squarely mainstream — international pop and electronic headliners with a strong French rap contingent — and the audience skews young.
The setting is a working agricultural plain, not a park, and the festival is one of the few in France to have been disrupted outright by river conditions in the past; the site is flat, exposed and turns to mud quickly.
No recent attendance figure is published by the organiser, so we record none.
Marmande is a town of 18,000 with correspondingly little accommodation; the festival runs a large campsite and most of the audience uses it. Agen and Bordeaux are the realistic hotel bases, at forty minutes and ninety minutes respectively, and the late-night return is by festival shuttle rather than rail.
PlanningSeasonal window at the turn of June and July; the site is a floodplain and the ground is the variable.
