Silvesterspringen

Engelberg · Obwalden · Switzerland

Engelberg's Gross-Titlis-Schanze is among the largest hills on the World Cup circuit, and the competition held there is the last before the Four Hills tournament begins in Germany and Austria — which makes it the form guide the whole sport reads.

No attendance figure is collected in this pass.

The name is the trap. Silvester means New Year's Eve, and the event is held in mid-December; the New Year jumping is at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is a different competition in a different country. A reader taking the name literally arrives a fortnight late.

Engelberg is an hour from Lucerne by train and is a working ski resort around the Titlis glacier, so the December accommodation is already committed to skiers.

PlanningDecember, before the Four Hills tournament — not New Year, despite the name.
