Street Parade

Zurich · Switzerland

The Street Parade began in 1992 as a demonstration for love, peace and tolerance — a legal status it retains, which is why it is free and why the city cannot charge for it. Around thirty Love Mobiles, articulated lorries carrying sound systems and DJs, move slowly around the Zurich lake basin while several hundred thousand people follow them.

Around 900,000 participants were reported along the route for the 2024 edition, in the press rather than audited, and the figure counts presence on a public street rather than admissions.

It is anchored to the second Saturday of August and is the largest single-day event in Switzerland.

Zurich's trams are suspended across the centre, the national rail operator runs night services in every direction, and the city's hotel stock is gone months ahead.

PlanningAnchored to the second Saturday of August; one day, free, and the city's largest event by a distance.
