اليوم الوطني بأم القيوين
Umm Al Quwain · United Arab Emirates
Umm Al Quwain is the least developed and second smallest emirate, built around a lagoon with mangroves and an old town on a sand spit, and its National Day observance is correspondingly modest: parades, fireworks over the creek, and the whole population in the street.
No attendance figure applies.
Its interest is as a control case. Every emirate marks 2–3 December, and the contrast between Dubai's projections onto the world's tallest building and a town of 80,000 on a lagoon is the clearest illustration available of how uneven the federation is.
The emirate is also where the country's oldest archaeological sites sit — Ed-Dur, occupied two thousand years ago — and almost nobody goes.
PlanningFixed on 2–3 December with National Day; a local observance rather than a spectacle.
