Abu Dhabi Art is a smaller and more curated proposition than Art Dubai: around fifty galleries at Manarat Al Saadiyat, with a commissioning programme that places new work in the emirate's public spaces and historic sites, and a talks programme attached to the cultural district being built around it.

The district is the context: the Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017, with the Zayed National Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi following, which makes Saadiyat the largest single cultural construction project anywhere.
Entry is free, which for an art fair is unusual and deliberate — the event is positioned as public programming rather than as a market first.
