Art Dubai has run since 2007 and occupies a position no European fair does: its galleries come substantially from the Middle East, South Asia, Africa and their diasporas, and the work shown is largely unavailable on the Basel–Paris–London circuit.
Art Dubai publishes attendance per edition; we have not collected a dated one.
Around it runs Dubai Art Season, with the Alserkal Avenue warehouses in Al Quoz — the city's gallery district, converted from a marble factory — opening together, and Sikka in Al Fahidi.
April is late in the Gulf season and already hot by day, which is why the fair runs at Madinat Jumeirah with everything under cover and the openings after dark.
PlanningAn April window anchoring Dubai Art Season; the galleries are the ones the European fairs do not carry.
