Lollapalooza Paris

Paris · Île-de-France · France

Lollapalooza arrived in Paris in 2017, one of several international editions licensed from the Chicago original, and took the Longchamp racecourse in the Bois de Boulogne. The formula is transplanted intact: large pop, rap and rock headliners, a family area, and a food court of Paris restaurants rather than festival caterers.

No attendance figure is published for the French edition, so we record none.

Its character differs from the campsite festivals that dominate the French July. The audience sleeps at home or in hotels, arrives by métro and bus, and the site closes at a civil hour because it sits inside the city. That makes it the most accessible big festival in France for anyone who does not want a tent, and the most dependent on Paris hotel pricing in high season.

It usually falls within days of Bastille Day, which compounds the demand on the city's rooms.

PlanningSeasonal window in mid-July; an urban festival with no camping, so it runs on métro timetables.
