Salone del Mobile e Fuorisalone

Salone del Mobile.Milano

Milan · Lombardy · Italy

The Salone is the global furniture industry's fair, held at Rho Fiera since 1961 and still the week in which the year's production is launched. Around it has grown the Fuorisalone — installations, showroom openings and parties spread across Brera, Tortona, Ventura and the Isola district — which is now what most visitors mean by Milan Design Week and is largely free.

The organiser publishes visitor and exhibitor figures per edition; we have not collected a dated one here.

Two planning facts. The fair is in April, although it is sometimes listed in March. And the two halves behave differently: Rho requires a ticket and is a trade environment, while the city programme needs only a map and good shoes.

Milan hotel rates for design week are the highest of the year, higher than fashion week, and apartments are let by the night.

PlanningApril, not March — and the Fuorisalone across the city is free while the fair itself is ticketed.

68% of VISITS are operators from abroad. The fair's public days are not broken out of this share. Operator origin and public origin are different quantities.
