Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth
مهرجان الشارقة السينمائي للأطفال والشباب
Sharjah · United Arab Emirates
SIFF programmes feature films, shorts and animation for children and young people, with filmmaking workshops running alongside and a youth jury. It is free and heavily attended by schools.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
Its purpose is supply: Arabic-language cinema for children barely exists as a commercial category, and the festival commissions, screens and teaches into that gap.
Together with the Children's Reading Festival in spring, it is the second half of Sharjah's declared policy of building an audience young — the emirate's cultural strategy is unusually explicit and unusually long-term by the standards of the region.
PlanningAn October window; free, with a schools programme on weekdays.
