Sharjah's Week of the Stars is a sports and youth programme run across the emirate's clubs and public spaces in January — competitions, displays and community events, organised by the emirate's sports council.
No attendance figure is collected in this pass.
It is a domestic event in a way that almost nothing else on the UAE calendar is: the audience is Sharjah's own residents, the programme is published in Arabic first, and it is not marketed to visitors at all.
We record it because the partner does, and because a register of the UAE assembled only from events that market themselves internationally would describe a country that does not exist.
