Sikka Art and Design Festival

سكة

Dubai · United Arab Emirates

Sikka — the word means an alleyway — installs work by Emirati and UAE-based artists in the restored coral-and-gypsum courtyard houses of Al Fahidi, the oldest surviving quarter of Dubai, with its wind towers and narrow lanes. Studios open, work is for sale, and the programme includes music and film in the courtyards.

No attendance figure is collected in this pass.

Its mandate is local: this is where artists based in the Emirates show, as against the international market that arrives for Art Dubai the same season.

The dates move, partly with Art Dubai and partly to avoid Ramadan — which is the clearest small illustration of how the lunar calendar reorganises the Gregorian one around it every year.

PlanningA February or March window in the old quarter; free, and the dates move with Art Dubai and Ramadan.
